Rise and Fall

The war that engulfs Heaven is short and violent. Lucifer and his angels are cast out and fall for centuries, crashing down into the deepest of pits.

Rousing themselves, they curse God and the heavens, resolving to forge a new kingdom in the bowels of the Earth. Thus is Pandaemonium, the city of tormented souls, raised. Not content, Lucifer sets out across the vast abyss to the world of Man, God's newest children - his mission is to free them from their slavery in the Garden of Eden, to show them what can be accomplished with free will.

Initially, Lucifer's quest is thwarted - the angels Uriel and Gabriel capture him and he is banished from the Garden. Raphael then reveals himself to Adam and Eve, warning them of the danger Lucifer poses and relating to them the tale of the war in heaven and Lucifer's subsequent fall. However, Lucifer re-enters the Garden in the form of a snake, and tempts Adam and Eve into eating the forbidden fruit of knowledge.

Their innocence lost, Adam and Eve are judged by the Son of God - they are to be banished from the Garden, and presented with visions of what their sin has wrought by the angel Michael. His mission accomplished, Satan returns to Hell along a path built by Sin and Death, now free to haunt the world of Man.

Adam and Eve step outside the Garden, and the world stretches before them in all of it's splendour and terror - their Paradise Lost forever.
